British actor Charles McKeown attended the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and, in the early 1970s, began to get small roles in English television shows such as "Late Night Theatre" and the children's series "Inigo Pipkin." McKeown began what was to be a long-term association with members of the revered comedy troupe Monty Python in '77, when he was cast on several episodes of "Ripping Yarns" with Terry Jones and Michael Palin. In '79, McKeown appeared in an episode of John Cleese's "Fawlty Towers" and took on several small parts in Monty Python's Biblical comedy "Life of Brian." It was while working on "Brian" that McKeown met Terry Gilliam, the Pythons' resident animator, whose career as a director was just getting started. McKeown co-wrote and had roles in several of Gilliam's films, including the dystopian comedy/drama "Brazil" ('85), the fantasy tale "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" ('88), and the dream-like "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" (2009), though his scenes in the latter were cut. He also appeared in Gilliam's "Time Bandits" ('81) and several other Python-related projects, including "A Private Function" and "Erik the Viking." His other acting work includes roles in Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase's espionage comedy "Spies Like Us" ('85) and two episodes of the '90s TV series "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles."
